I am Salisha.Aya 

Vinyasa Flow - Yoga Instructor 

 

I started Yoga in my early 20’s as part of an exercise program and immediately felt changes in my physical body.  I remember a lightness and more energy than I had ever felt, up till then. I then committed to a more regular practice which took me on a journey to my first yoga teacher’s training in Bali followed by 10 years of workshops around the world including 3 months of Sacred Mystery School in Indian. It was then that I awakened to a deeper understanding of myself, my internal wisdom and my mission on this earth. As I learned this 5,000 year old ancient wisdom tradition, I discovered that Yoga is so much more than a physical practice but a journey of self mastery, cultivating balance, harmony and compassion for all beings, On and Off the mat.

 

My mission is to teach as an act of love and honour for the practice and to invite as many individuals, of all ages into this space of asana to enjoy the healing benefits that each practitioner receives. Yoga invites deep personal growth and can inspire an awakening to your life purpose and potential. 

 

I continue to learn and grow in my own practice, constantly challenging my boundaries and beliefs in order to expand my consciousness and creativity. I teach an intuitive flow, meeting my students where they are and guiding them into a journey of self-discovery, self-reflection and self-healing.

More than 2 decades ago, a severe injury brought me onto the yogic path. It wasn’t a path I ever expected I would find myself on, let alone be teaching!

 

But life works in mysterious ways, and that injury, as devastating as it was, was a true gift in that it led me to a practice that would not only help heal my body, but also my soul. 

 

Through consistent asana, pranayama and meditation, I began to unravel and uncover both the shadow aspects of myself, and the unbounded beauty inside of me, leading me closer and closer to my core essence and who I truly was.

 

Over the years, I studied asana under teachers like Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea, Richard Freeman and Shri Devi, and devoted myself to spiritual masters such as Sri Divyananda Saraswati Maharaj and Osho. And for over 25 years now, I have been teaching workshops, retreats, in studios and at festivals all over the world. 

 

Through careful guidance, hands-on adjustments and a deep knowledge of the physiology of the practice, I help practitioners achieve their full potential, find balance in life, and connect with their inner strength in a loving and safe way. 

 

I have been honored to act as a yoga Ambassador for the likes of Lululemon, Adidas and Mercedes-Benz, and have given personal instruction to people like the U.S. Ambassador to Germany, the Director of Human Rights Watch, and even the ex-wife of Wimbeldon champ Boris Becker.
